Why I am a Republican...
In these times we live, I am often asked why I choose to be a Republican. It is very simple. It goes back to 1853, when we had two Political Parties; The Democratic Party and The Whig Party.
Both of these Parties were very comfortable with the way things were, and neither Party wanted to end Slavery. People in The Midwest got together, and formed The Republican Party, for one main reason, to end Slavery. The Republicans viewed Slavery as a Crime Against Humanity. They Elected the First Republican President, Abraham Lincoln; and he put an end to Slavery. We then fought a terrible Civil War, and Freed The Slaves.
The Democrats that owned the Plantations in The South, were so upset about losing The Civil War, they formed their own club; it's called The Ku Klux Klan. The Klan was formed by Nathan Bedford Forrest, a leading Democrat in his time. Today, those old roots are still visible in The Democratic Party. Senator Robert Byrd from West Virginia "claims" to no longer be part of The Klan. But remember, it was Ike Eisenhower who sent The National Guard starting in 1957 to force Colleges to accept African Americans. Ike was a Republican. It was Richard Nixon, a Republican, who signed the first Affirmative Action into Law. And look today, at how Democrats abuse Minorities. Think of all the evil things you've heard Democrats say about Minorities like Clarence Thomas, Alberto Gonzales and Condalisa Rice. In 2004, when Ted Kennedy called all African Americans and Hispanics "Neanderthals", I found it very offensive. And to this day, Ted Kennedy has never apologized for his statement. So, this is why I am a Republican; I am not a Racist.
